Re Test
If your vehicle fails the MOT test there are a list of things that can be retested free.
You should also be aware that if your vehicle is submitted for an MOT Test whilst still having a valid MOT certificate, and it fails the inspection, the original certificate is still legally valid until it expiry date. But if your vehicle has faults which make it un-roadworthy in law. You should not use it on the road irrespective of whether or not it has a current valid MOT certificate.

- If you take your vehicle away from the Testing Station and return it for re-examination on anything other than one or more of the items listed above, then only the failed item needs to be examined by the MOT Tester, for which the MOT Station may charge up to, half the original Test fee. This fee cannot be exceeded but the Tester may conduct a full MOT inspection if it is deemed necessary.
- The above items do not require the full MOT Test to be carried out if the vehicle is returned to the Same MOT station and re-Tested before the end of the following day:
- Only 1 free re-test is allowed per MOT
