The checks below are a little more advanced and more in depth than the last page.

What to check under the bonnet.

1 Bonnet          Open and Close              Does the bonnet open and close without a problem?
2 Battery Battery clamp Is the battery secure?                      Is the battery carrier corroded ?
3 Suspension  Turrets  Is there any corrosion near suspension mountings ?
4 Oil  Oil leaks  Do you have any oil leaks?
5  Linkages  Throttle Throttle cable condition. if frayed replace.
6  Brake  Brake fluid  Check fluid level and fixings for servo etc. brake pipes for corrosion.        
7  Water windscreen Washer  Check there is plenty of water in the resevoir. no water means washers don't work ( Fail)
8 Steering joints  Play  On some vehicles these can be inspected under bonnet other vehicles have to be checked from below.
9  Brake hoses  Rubber  Check for perrishing by bending the hose with your fingers. any cracks visible replace.
10  Fuel line  leaks  any fuel leak anywhere will fail your car Inspect all fuel line.
11  Rust  Holes and cracks  any rust that compromises the strength of the metal within 30cm of structural part needs to be repaired by a professional.
12  Rust  bodywork  any holes in the bodywork need to be repaired.
13  Exhaust  Fixings  Is the exhaust fixed correctly? are there any exhaust leaks under bonnet.

Inspect wheel rims for the following: Failure if any defects listed below are found Failure if any defects listed below are found

Securely attached to the vehicle

No wheel nuts or studs missing.

Damage

Distortion cracks

Distorted (bent) bead rim.

Part of the system missing or excessively deteriorated

A mounting is missing or damaged so it does not support the system

There is a major leak

The system is excessively noisy

The Evil Rust again

Fuel filler cap must fasten securely

Any Problem which could cause fuel to leak out.

 

The seal in the cap must not be torn, deteriorated or missing
